This family-friendly hike is located in Makiki, off of Roundtop Drive. The trail begins at Pu‘u ‘Ualaka‘a State Wayside and is a short loop trail with ample shade provided by a thick canopy of trees. The day we hiked Pu‘u ‘Ualaka‘a the trail was muddy and slippery in some places, but not too difficult for our 4-year-old daughter to navigate. This is a great trail for families or beginning hikers.
The park offers a sweeping view of Honolulu from the lookout. Restroom facilities and picnic areas were clean and well-maintained. Here are a few images from our day.
